J.J. Abrams, who wrote and direct a new era of Star Wars with The Force Awakens in 2015, is coming back to finish the trilogy as author and director of Star Wars: Episode IX. Abrams will co-operate with Chris Terrio to write the film together. Star Wars: Episode IX will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Abrams, Bad Robot, and Lucasfilm.
“With The Force Awakens, J.J. succeeded more than we hope to , and I am excited to the point that he is returning to finish this episode,” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
Star Wars: Episode IX will be released on December 20, 2019.
